What Google and MSN ACTUALLY want
What a long summer it has been. Apologies for the delay with this newsletter, but demand has been very high and we have all been very very busy!
As promised today's article is really going to delve a little deeper in to what Google and Yahoo (plus others) are ACTUALLY looking for.
We'll start with items you can do to annoy Google:
- Out of date sites;
- Sites with very little words;
- Poorly designed and coded websites;
- Clear spamming and 'keyword stuffing'
Stay clear of these and you are part way there. Next let's look at what Google and the other search engines are ACTUALLY looking for:
- Lots of good, related, backlinks
- Clear English written copy
- New pages added every week
- Regular page updates across the site
- A clear, text based, sitemap
- A well written page title
- Unique title names for each and every page of your website
- Valid website coding (check your website at http://validator.w3.org
- Lots of text based content
Even Google, through their own website, recommends website owners to do all the above.
Take an honest look at your website, can you say you meet all of the above criteria?
If not have your web designer (or us even) look in to your site and ensure it meets all the above.
