To blog or not to blog

To blog, or not to blog - it seems the most in-word at the moment.

The art of blogging began with the notion of online diaries, people sharing experiences, profiles, thoughts, enlightenments etc.... little did anyone know how popular this recent past-time would become - or how beneficial it could be to small businesses to start their own.

Now why would anyone want to read about the daily lives of the owners of small businesses, well in frankness they probably wouldn't, but a regular blog is a great way of increasing position on search engines because a regularly updated blog is a regularly updated websites - and this means something to search engines. Also your blog doesn't need to be about yourself, but more your company - use it as a way of informing customers of products, growth etc...

Search engines want to ensure the websites they list, especially towards the top of their pages, are current; relevant and not three years old or more and 'stale'.

A recommendation is to update your site at least once a week, and add a new page a week. Blogging is perfect for this exercise!
